Just One More Thing with Chrissy King

Fiction Dreams, Chosen Family & the Next Brave Yes

Welcome back to Just One More Thing — the Substack-only bonus where we slow it down for a few candid, off-the-cuff questions that didn’t make it into the full For the Love conversation. These moments are small, honest, and often quietly revealing.

This week on For the Love, I sat down with Chrissy King for a powerful conversation about body liberation, unlearning shame, and why your body was never the problem. You can listen to the full episode here.

Here’s what she shared:

📖 A secret dream: Writing fiction — romance or literary — something she’s carried in her body for years. She’s started. She has an idea she loves. And she’s giving herself permission to finish the manuscript in 2026, even if it’s just for her. (We love a no-pressure creative vow.)

👯 A tiny joy: Friendship. Deep, practical, show-up-with-soup-and-leave-you-to-rest friendship. Living in Brooklyn with chosen family close by has been a source of real care, especially during hard weeks.

🌱 A brave truth: She hasn’t done anything “big brave” recently — and that’s okay. After years of intensity and upheaval, she named this season for what it was: rest. Refilling the tank. And now? She can feel the next brave thing approaching.

This bonus moment is a reminder that courage doesn’t always look like action. Sometimes it looks like waiting. Sometimes it looks like honesty about where you are. And sometimes it looks like trusting that bravery will come back around when you’re ready.
